Portfolio allocation and rebalancing: How we calculate
Show deviations from chosen target weights and rebalancing amounts.
How we calculate
Full rebalancing shows buys and sells to reach targets after the contribution. A separate column allocates new money only across underweights and is not investment advice.
Worked example
Example: stocks are worth €7,000 and bonds €3,000, with target weights of 60% and 40% and a new €1,000 contribution. The total becomes €11,000, with target amounts €6,600 and €4,400. Full rebalancing sells €400 of stocks and buys €1,400 of bonds. A buy-only contribution puts all €1,000 into bonds but does not yet reach the target weights.
This is allocation arithmetic, not a recommendation to buy an asset. Market prices can change before trades; account separately for fees, taxes, minimum trade sizes and liquidity.
