How we calculate

For a standard financial lease, the calculator includes all VAT on the vehicle price in the upfront payment because the asset transfer is treated as a sale for VAT purposes. In the no-VAT mode, no tax is separated from the price. For an operating lease, VAT is added to each payment’s principal while separately stated interest is exempt. Full-service rental is not modelled.

Scenario: new standard 2026 transaction, VAT 24%. No historic advances, special schemes or input VAT recovery. Future payments assume the same rate; this is not a forecast of legislation.

Enter a percentage or an amount and the other field updates. The percentage uses the entered price; the last edited field remains authoritative when the price changes.
