Powers, roots and logarithms: Explanation and example
Calculate a power, integer-degree root or logarithm.
Explanation and example
Choose x to the power y, the y-th root of x, or log base y of x. The logarithm is the number t for which y to the power t equals x.
Example: 2³ = 8, the cube root of −27 is −3, and log₁₀(100) = 2.

Limits
A real logarithm requires x > 0, base y > 0 and y ≠ 1. Even roots of negative numbers, 0⁰ and zero raised to a negative power are excluded. In root mode, y must be a nonzero integer. In power mode, this calculator accepts negative x only with an integer y.
