Trigonometry: Explanation and example

Calculate sine, cosine and tangent from an angle in degrees.

Explanation and example

Convert degrees to radians with θπ/180. On the unit circle coordinates are (cos θ, sin θ); tan θ = sin θ / cos θ.

Example: at 30°, sine = 0.5, cosine ≈ 0.866 and tangent ≈ 0.577.

Limits

Tangent is undefined when cosine is zero, such as 90°. Input uses degrees; extreme angles are limited to control rounding.
